A brutality is a finishing move featured in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES and Genesis versions only), Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe, Mortal Kombat (2011 game) and Mortal Kombat X. These are violent like fatalities, except the character does a string of combos on the opponent until they explode, showing an unrealistic amount of bones (such as 3 skulls or 3 rib cages). Brutalities take a lot of practice to pull off, as you have to press many random attack buttons to do them within a short time. In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, you can kill multiple opponents with brutalities.
Brutalities in Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe
In Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe brutalities take on a new form, under the name of heroic brutality. They have the same concept as fatalities, in the sense they are still brutal finishing moves, but the difference is they leave the victim alive. They were introduced because it would be uncharacteristic for the DC heroes to kill another person, meaning they couldn't use traditional fatalities. The MK cast and DC villains, however, will still kill opponents with finishing moves in the form of traditional fatalities.
 Brutalities in Mortal Kombat X
Unlike the original brutalities, they are more easy to achieve and must be done just before the opponent gets knocked out.
 Stage Brutalities
Stage Brutalities are shown in certain stages.
