|Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe|
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is the eight game in the Mortal Kombat series. It combines both the Mortal Kombat and Dc Universe worlds combined to create a unique crossover, which many critics have been very skeptical about since the games conception. The title hosts a roster of 22 characters, not nearly as much as the previous game Mortal Kombat: Armageddon; characters including: Scorpion, Shang Tsung, and Baraka from the Mortal Kombat games, and also characters such as: Batman, Green Lantern, and Deathstroke. The game, at its core is the same as any other of the Mortal Kombat games, but also throws in new battle features such as Free Falling, Test Your Might, Rage Meters, and Klose Kombat. Also the game will feature new Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Fatalities and Heroic Brutalities.
The game takes place sometime after the events of the previous ones, in which Shao Khan has been defeated by the Thunder God, Raiden. Meanwhile in the DC Universe, Superman has managed to overcome his foe, Darkseid in battle, and as the two villains are beaten, a sudden reaction causes both universes to collide and almost shatter. Darkseid and Shao Khan vanish, and from both of their spirits comes Dark Khan, the villain of the game. As he tries to merge both universes into one, Dark Khan infects the merging with his seeping rage, overwhelming those who are caught in the commotion below.
As the two universes start to merge, characters from both realms are bought together. However, untrusting, and curious of the new arrivals triggers a raging aura which takes over the character and forces them to fight ferociously. At first, the combatants disregard the instances as cheap sorcery, or a simple coincidence, but as the evidence that both separate universes are merging, the characters on either side of the divide band together, ignoring their indifference, and try to find the source of their problem. They are brought to the space lying between the two universes, where Dark Khan awaits them in his throne room, but as both leagues of combatants become enticed in rage, they begin to fight at his will, meaning only Raiden and Superman manage to break away and challenge the creature. Upon his defeat, both universes are returned to normal, but some side effects and sub-plots come into play, as detailed in the character Arcade Endings.
 Game Modes
The game can be played in three ways: either online, alone, or with another friend (provided you have a second controller). The Story mode allows you to play through a narrated list of battles leading up to the separation of both universes, you can either choose the Mortal Kombat side of the story, or the DC Universe side. Each side offers several chapters, each one represented by a different character that will have to fight up to five battles before alternating to another one. Aside from completing the story mode, there is also Arcade mode in which you choose any of the available characters to fight their way to the top of a ladder of enemies, round by round. Once at the top, having beaten Dark Khan, you will be rewarded a short film with a voice over of what the certain character did after the Mortal Kombat and DC Universe collisions. Apart from this you can either practice with any of the characters or even attempt the Kombo Challenges, some devilishly harsh trials that test the abilities of combo streakers.
Online mode is also available, offering simple 1 vs. 1 standard matches. Upon logging in, there are several lobbies to sign into, and once inside you scroll down a list of present players and select the one you want to challenge, and if they accept your proposal, you will be thrust straight into a fight. Leaderboards are also present, charting every win, loss, or disconnections players may of had.
