Released in 1992, Mortal Kombat was not a Street Fighter clone, but was influenced by it. This game features graphics and gameplay that was considered groundbreaking for the time, it also featured fatalities, in which you can finish off your opponent graphically, either if its ripping your opponent's heart out, transforming your opponent into a block of ice and shattering them, or engulfing them in fire.

Plot

For millions of years warlords of the Outworld were power hungry, especially one warlord, Shao Kahn. After conquering outworld, he went to take on other realms, but the elder gods have forbidden him to do so, the only way to conquer a realm is to win a tournament called Mortal Kombat, 10 in a row. He did so against the realm of Edenia, but 10,000 years ago, he began to conquer earthrealm. He won 9 in a row against the earthrealm, this generation (500 years from the last tournament) is determined to win in this tournament with the help of Raiden and to defeat the outworld.
