Kano is a leader of an international criminal organization known as "Black Dragon". As being a cold-blooded murderer, he committed such crimes all over the earthrealm. But, army soldier Sonya Blade was on his tail, but it was a trap set by Kano to lure Sonya to the tournament, but since both he and Sonya failed to complete tasks at the tournament, they were captured and imprisoned in the outworld. When the earthrealm warriors defeated Shao Kahn's forces, they were free, but Kano used this opportunity to escape, from Sonya and Jax. Then, during the outworld invasion, he secretly struck a deal with the outworld generals to teach them to handle the modern weapons of the earthrealm.This made him into a general of the outworld forces in the invasion of erathrealm. After Shao Kahn was killed by the dealy alliance, he remained in shadow, then sided with the alliance.

• During the making of Mortal Kombat 2 the actor who played Kano (Richard Divizio) has pointed out Kano's favorite food, which happens to be Cheeseburgers from the American fast food restaurant White Castle.
