Once a member of the nefarious Black Dragon Clan, Kabal was split off from his clan upon the invasion of the mighty Shao Kahn. The emperor sent his extermination squads to slaughter the remnants of the clan, but somehow, Kabal was spared. Though not killed in the fight, Kabal had changed. He had to adpot a respiration mask to keep him breathing, and had also derived from the path of evil, and would then wield his two hook swords only against those that threatened the allegiance of light, or so it would seem. Kabal ventured to destroy the evil clan he had once been aligned with, only to encounter it's new leader, Mavado, who sverely wounded him in battle.
Kabal was almost dead, when Havik, the Cleric of Chaos, found him and restored him to perfect health. Somehow, after saving his life, Havik persuaded Kabal to rejoin his former clan only to bring chaos and turmoil back to Earthrealm. Following his years of training with Havik, Kabal finally returned to the clan, only to slay Mavado and take back his hook swords he had lost in the previous battle. With the clan up and running again, Kabal recruited Kobra and Kira. Together, along with Havik, they travelled to outworld where they would fight Shao Kahn.
In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Kabal appears in both the Arcade and Konquest modes. The game's hero, Taven comes actoss Kabal when he is searching for a friend in the Black Dragon headquarters. After defeating many of Kabal's thugs along with Kobra himself, Kabal offers a place in the clan to Taven, which he refuses and then goes on to defeat him.
