Johnny Cage was born of a rich family. Johnny always had a uncanny knack for martial arts, as he was trained by martial arts masters all over the world. He would later use his special talent for movies. However, during his acting career, he would become egotistical, and wanting to go up against a worthy opponent. Then, he has heard of the Mortal Kombat tournament, this was his chance to prove to the world that he is worthy. But, he would soon realize that the tournament was about protecting the earthrealm.

After the tournament was won. Johnny came back to his acting career with a new reputation. During the filming of his new movie he mysteriously disappeared to help Liu Kang and the other earthrealm warriors in the outworld to fight against Shao Kahn, unfortunately Johnny was killed during the fight in the outworld, but during the invasion of the earthrealm, Raiden used some of his powers to revive Johnny, and he was helping his other erthrealm companions defeat Shao Kahn.

Then, Johnny was called to action again, to fight Shinnok and Quan Chi, but when he received word that Liu Kang was killed in by the deadly alliance, he sworn revenge on Shang Tsung, but was defeated, and disappeared.
